Legal
Acceptable Use Policy
localscreenshot visits websites in your name. These are the rules for what you may capture. They are short on purpose, and they are part of the Terms.
Draft, not reviewed by a lawyer yet. This text describes how the service works today. It may change before it becomes the final version.
The rule in one line
Capture only public pages, for a lawful purpose, without harming the website or anyone on it.
What you can do
Fine, and what the Service is for
- Capture public pages: the ones anyone can open without signing in
- Check your own website, on desktop or phone, and from other countries
- Watch a public page for changes, for example a price or a listing
- See how a page looks from another country
- Make previews, thumbnails and records of public pages
- Let your AI tools take screenshots on your behalf
What you cannot do
Getting in where you are not invited
- Pages behind a login, a paywall or a private network
- Getting around a CAPTCHA, a bot check or any other access control
- Getting around a country restriction for an unlawful purpose
Harming a website
- Flooding a site with requests. We limit screenshots per website, and you must not try to get around that limit
- Probing a site for weaknesses, or using us as part of an attack
- Ignoring a clear request from a site owner to stop
Harming people
- Tracking, monitoring or harassing a person
- Collecting personal data in bulk, or sensitive data about anyone
- Phishing, impersonation, fraud or deceiving someone with a screenshot
Breaking the law or these terms
- Capturing or keeping illegal content
- Infringing copyright or reselling other people's content as yours
- Reselling or rebranding the Service without our written agreement
- Creating several accounts to collect free credits, or sharing keys to dodge limits
What the Service will not do, whatever you ask. It does not sign in for you, solve CAPTCHAs or get past paywalls. When a website blocks the visit, you get a clear error and you are not charged.
